The Decade So Far - BCS Conferences Results

This is not meant to start a conference debate ( well a little bit ) , but I don't think I can read one more thread talking about how weak the PAC 10 is without screaming . The level of ignorance on this board is incredible . The records of all 6 BCS ( major ) conferences are listed against each other , as well as some other catagories against the better teams . No stats for beating FCS or Sun Belt teams are listed , unless it is in a bowl game , because who cares ? As a starter , consider the following for the period from 2000-2008 :

Best record against BCS teams - PAC 10

Best record against BCS teams in bowl games - PAC 10

Best Record of BCS conferences in BCS bowl games - PAC 10

Best record against year ranked top 10 teams - PAC 10

Best record against 10 or more win BCS teams - PAC 10

Clearly , the PAC 10 is not a weak conference . It has the best record this decade against the best conferences and the best teams . Here are the numbers , all courtesy of the best site around , observer50's cfbtrivia.com . Included in the stats is the MWC , since there has been much talk lately about whether they sould receive an automatic BCS bowl bid . Each catagory lists the opponents win percentage , with percentage of OOC road games listed in that catagory for comparison .

vs BCS OOC ( includes Notre Dame ) :

1. PAC 85-74   .535   OW% .623
2. SEC 91-84   .520   OW% .645
3. B12  80-82   .494   OW% .640

Does the PAC 10 play football ?

looking at the stats i dont think it matters if SC does it or not. If you look at it LSU, Florida, and Bama are the main reasons the SEC is even talked about. Otherwise its just another conference.

Does the PAC 10 play football ?

I would say that the PAC12 is the most complete conference.  It offers the best combination of diverse athletics, scenic campuses, and academic accumen.  There is a greater level of parity amongst the schools, and the top level teams that the conference produces in its best years are REALLY good (see USC, OREGON, STANFORD).  Part of the reason your athletes develop so well in the NFL must be stemming from the quality of education as well.

There, I've given my props and I will come back to my antithesis.

People talk a lot in the sports media these days about "Tangibles" and "Intangibles".  What this blog did was a very sound case for the tangibles.  Stats.   The intangibles in this case would be the quality of revolving talent.   If you read above, there really isn't much distribution of wealth in the PAC12.  The USCs and Oregons (more recent) and such dominate for periods that would amount to, in most cases, dynasties with a half-hearted rivalry team trailing far behind.

When people talk about the SEC being the best conference, it is mostly due to the fact that there is a wealth of talent on nearly every team, and most of that talent projects extremely well to the next level (UF, LSU, UGA, TENN, ALA, AU all pack the NFL with players).  Add in the fact that of the 7 BCS National Titles in the Conference, 5 have come from different teams and it really shows that there is greater depth in the conference than the PAC12.  Include UGA, who has been extremely close to that MNC game twice ('02 and '07) and it just gets deeper.  No other conference boasts 12 members where 11 have been credited with a least a share of a National Title (sorry Vandy).

I'm not saying that the SEC is the best conference in CFB, far from it in fact.  I believe that even this year, the Big 12 is a better conference.  However, there is not a more consistent conference with a greater distribution of power in a cyclic rate.  There also is not another conference with the type of unwavering support that the SEC has in its fanbase both for the individual institutions and the conference as a whole.

If the PAC12 wants to be considered with the same esteem, it is on the fans and club boosters to put it there.  Hype the living bejeezus out of the individual teams and the conference.  Let
the media follow in their own time.

Does the PAC 10 play football ?

I am not impressed with the SEc. After all the bragging and boasting they do about playing the best team week after week I looked at their schedule. They and the BIg-12 play the weakest out of conference schedule of all the confernces. Even Florida the mythical champion selected by the computers and whom ever else they have selecting the champion played a school called The Citadel.

Both conferences play lower Div schools out of conference. They boast thier numbers up on these hapless teams and then say we scored more points, we beat teams by a certain amount of points.

Anyone in our conference can win against The Citadel and Middle Tennessee as well as Louisiana Monroe and Central Michigan.

I sincerely believe that team for team the PAC-10 match up against any conference in College football.

We are the only conference that won all our bowl games this year.

You should go to the other conference boards and see why they say the PAC-10 won all their bowl games. One even said that all our bowl games were played in California. Since when did El Paso, Texas become a part of California. Some had better tell Texas that El Paso has seceded from them and became apart of CAlifornia.

We play  darn good football in the PAC-10 both Offense and defense which the BIg-12 have a hard time spelling let alone play defense.

What team would Oklahoma run up 65 points on in the PAC-10 besides the lower teams in our conference Not Arizona, Arizona State, ucla, California, Stanford, Oregon Oregon State and certainly not SC
